Quote from Becky Rose :EDIT Sidenote: STCC actually had 4 collision physics based accidents on that chicane in the race... *shrug*

And what high flying times those were.

Quote from DeMS :To complete it all, it would be a nice touch if after the race, you would get a report of what has failed or what degree of damage did every/most/most important parts of the car get, to improve people's driving.

When engine damage is included in LFS this is the way I would want it shown.

About the tyre temps in on-line racing. To know the temperature and pressure of the air inside the tyre, while on the move, is cheap and easy. To get a general temp of the tyre surface is quite cheap and easy. To get detailed temperature information about specific areas of the tyre is expensive but quite easy.
IMO (which might just be crap) the GTR cars and the faster SS cars should have the fully detailed temp readings. The road cars can do fine without.
Off-line or practising I would like to have all the data because it helps setting the car up.
I like the idea about seeing the temps only while pitting.

@tristan
Is radio communication and telemetry really that rare in racing?
I'm actually quite shocked by this.

Quote from flymike91 :but a lot of racing cars have ground effect kits, front lip spoilers etc.

So do the race cars in LFS the UFR, XFR, FXR, FZR and XRR. As those already have the kits I can only assume people who post these things want them on the road cars. On them these kits would be a bit pointless.

For an example: Take the XRR and limit the power-to-weight ratio as close to the XRT as you can. Plus add a hundred pounds for the wikkid bodykit. Adjust the aero angles to the max. Then drive it around.

Must be a wikkid ride innit.

Well blended passes for baking. My wife makes this delicious cheesecake that has whiskey in it. Unfortunately she will only make it for my birthdays.

The summer before last, when I was in Scotland, I bought a bottle of 10yo Glen Grant. A bit too cherryish for my taste but still very good.

I would say the opposite. In a FWD the engine brakes the front wheels and the hand brake the rear wheels.

In a RWD the engine might prevent the rears from locking up.

Quote from March Hare :IYou might want to use the hand brake to actually stop but for slowing down the engine is much better.

Quote from Danke :Slowing down with engine braking, yes. Stopping with engine braking, no.

Strange echo in this place...

I too am fond of single malt. Just have a glass of 12-year-old Caol Ila in my other hand.

I like Laphroaig best though.

"Some" is the right word. I believe it was changed to rear wheels soon after my car was made. If I'm not totally wrong I believe the -85 model had the hand brake act on the rear wheels. I don't know about the previous models.

Better to hit the rear of a stationary car head on than an oncoming car side first.

Ian, we have to give the guy some slack. He doesn't know how to drive a car with a manual transmission.

Atleast my car (A mk 3 Golf Variant) slows down more rapidly by using engine braking. The hand-brake only locks the rear wheels and then it's skidding time. No matter what the weather, be it dry or wet or snow or ice.
Now my previous car (-84 Saab 900) had the hand brake act on the FRONT wheels. Yes the actual wheels on the front. The ones that turn. Even it slowed down more with engine braking.

You might want to use the hand brake to actually stop but for slowing down the engine is much better.

Stefani24, you can host your own server too. Then you can change the track as often as you like. Because you host it you are the admin and you can kick/ban all those nasty wreckers and other idiots that might cause disturbances.

Quote from Ian.H :WTF's an 'e-brake'!?

Wasn't this discussed in some topic a few months back.

The actual drifting term, atleast according to the Drift King, is side-brake.
